The Carrier P283-9930 Start Relay is an essential component in the Carrier HVAC systems and is responsible for starting up the compressor. It is crucial in maintaining system functionality. Serving as either a potential or start relay, the P283-9930 gets control signals from your thermostat. When activated, it provides a short burst of high voltage (332V) with a maximum amp of 35 amps to the compressor motor. This rise overcomes the opposition offered by the motor windings and enables it to start and pump refrigerant throughout the HVAC system.
