Description
The Rheem-Ruud 47-22860-05 SPST Limit Switch is a small, self-resetting safety switch used to prevent the HVAC appliances from over-heating. This normally closed limit switch is designed to open whenever the temperature at which the system is operating reaches 100°F and it is able to close again whenever the temperature reduces to 90°F. The limit switch can be classified as the on/off temperature sensitive switch. When the temperature of the HVAC system gets to the dangerous level of one hundred degrees Fahrenheit, the switch opens the electrical circuit and stops operation. This protects the equipment from potential damage that may be as a result of high temperatures. When the temperature of the system reduces to 90°F the limit switch returns to its normal state which is closed, enabling the HVAC system to continue functioning.
