Description
The Trane SWT1696 is a safety switch that is manufactured to be used with Trane heating and cooling systems. This palm-sized device with the dimensions of 1 x 1.8 x 2” is essential for avoiding possible equipment damage. It works as a reverse flow switch, this means that it is designed to track the flow of air within the system. An internal bimetal disc is sensitive to temperature changes. When the air moving across the switch is at 140°F which is normal, the contacts are opened to allow the system to continue running. But if the airflow is reversed or if it ceases, the temperature will decrease as well. When it drops to 130°F, the contacts open and reset and this shuts down the HVAC unit.
